Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the Buonivini vineyard in Noto, in the far southeast of Sicily, at 35–40 metres above sea level. Planeta selected Noto after extensive research into a suitable site for Nero d’Avola.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in late September, then destemmed and crushed. Fermentation starts at 14–15 °C and finishes at 24–25 °C. Extended skin contact and malolactic fermentation follow.
Ageing
The wine rests in French oak barriques for approximately 14 months. This vintage was bottled in July 2023.

The wine takes its name from the winemaking family, Planeta di Santa Cecilia.
