Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Albesani Vigna Borgese vineyard in the municipality of Neive. The vines grow at 210–240 metres above sea level in calcareous soils containing clay and silt and are 30–70 years old.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Natural fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18–24 months in large oak barrels, followed by 6–12 months in bottle in the winery’s cellars.
Vintage notes
The 2021 growing season in Piedmont began with a cold, snowy winter. A rainy, unsettled spring brought frosts and significantly reduced yields. Summer remained hot and dry until the end of August; these conditions allowed the grapes to reach full ripeness, while the absence of excess moisture helped prevent disease. Nebbiolo was harvested in October after several periods of rain. Yields were below average, but producers reported high-quality fruit, and the vintage was considered successful overall. Experts expected its Nebbiolo wines to have excellent ageing potential.
