Storia
The Pietro Zardini winery grew out of a long family tradition rooted in Valpolicella. Pietro comes from a family that has made wine for five generations.
2000
At the age of 19, Pietro set out on his own and opened a winery. It later took the name of his grandfather, after whom Pietro himself was named.
Later years
Pietro dedicated his Amarone to his father, Leone. After several years of experimentation he developed a method for maturing wine in terracotta amphorae. Today he is an independent winemaker.
Terroir
The winery's vineyards lie around the historic village of San Floriano, in Valpolicella, Veneto.
Vinificazione
Pietro oversees every stage of the work, including removing excess leaves and fruit from the vines (green harvest and leaf thinning).
Pietro oversees the whole process, from the vineyard to bottling. The style is described as clear and disciplined, based on a traditional approach that leaves room for creativity. After several years of experimentation he developed a method for maturing wine in terracotta amphorae. Amarone is one of the winery's main wines.
Filosofia
The winery describes its wines as authentic and traditional, with notable concentration and depth, balanced by elegant freshness and easy drinkability. It combines commitment to the best traditions with room for creativity. It is suggested that Pietro's style could develop into a distinct school of Valpolicella wine.
