Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The Sangiovese comes from estate vineyards situated at 200–400 m above sea level, where the vines average 20–25 years old. The higher vineyards have stony soils rich in iron minerals and organic matter. White and grey clay, galestro and silty portions are prominent at lower elevations.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Vinification

Vinification takes place in truncated-conical wooden vats and cement vats and lasts no less than one month. Long, frequent pump-overs incorporating air continue throughout maceration, promoting even yet substantial extraction of aroma, structure and tannins.

Ageing

The wine matures for 36 months in 30 hl Slavonian oak casks. The 2021 was bottled in April 2025.

Technical data

Alcohol: 14%.

Tasting profile

The house profile combines silky tannins and a vertical palate with a persistent, intriguing finish. Red fruit and small dark berries meet floral notes of violet and sweet violet, citrus nuances, tobacco, coffee, cocoa and leather.

The 2021 is structured, with a substantial tannic framework supported by pronounced acidity. Its bouquet moves through fruit and flowers with an underlying citrus accent. The palate is rich and deep, with balsamic and ferrous nuances.

Vintage notes

The 2021 growing season alternated between spring frosts, intense summer heat and a wetter-than-average close to August. The late-August rainfall allowed the grapes to reach full maturity without water or heat stress. Harvest ran from 10 September through 4 October, following the estate’s classic timing for Sangiovese.
