Vineyard and terroir
The organically grown fruit comes from two areas of the Maremma in Tuscany. Vineyards at Baccinello lie at 350 m on alluvial soils composed mainly of clay and limestone, with a high proportion of large pebbles. The Alberese plots are at sea level on sandy-clay soils.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates. Traditional red-wine alcoholic fermentation with extended skin contact lasts approximately two weeks.
Ageing
The wine matures for 14 months in 500-litre oak barrels, followed by one year in bottle. Robert Parker recommended drinking the 2016 vintage between 2019 and 2024.
