Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The wine is sourced from 47 ha of vineyards at elevations of 300–450 m, with varied exposures. Soils are clay and silt with a moderate stony component, and planting densities range from 3,000 to 6,000 vines per hectare. Harvesting is manual, followed by optical sorting.
Grapes
90–95% Sangiovese, locally known as Prugnolo Gentile, with 5–10% other red grapes.
Vinification
Fermentation and maceration take place in truncated-conical stainless-steel vats over 15–20 days.
Ageing
The wine matures in wood for approximately 12–14 months: two-thirds in French-oak tonneaux and one-third in large vats.
Technical data
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG. Average production ranges from approximately 180,000 to 250,000 bottles. Ageing potential is 10–15 years.
Tasting profile
Structured and long-lived, with intense, recognizably Sangiovese aromas that continue onto the palate. Juicy, enveloping sour cherry and red plum are joined by tertiary notes of Mediterranean scrub and black pepper.
Label / history
First produced in 1968, the wine is conceived as an expression of its Tuscan origins and the longstanding relationship among the land, its people and local culture.
