Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from vineyards in the communes of Neive and Treiso, in the Barbaresco area. The vines grow on marl soils rich in limestone, magnesium and zinc, which give the grapes a mineral character.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo, with the grapes carefully selected at the winery.
Vinification
The grapes are destemmed and crushed, then macerated on the skins for around 8 days at no more than 30 °C. Malolactic fermentation continues until the end of winter.
Ageing
The wine is aged for about 12 months in large oak casks of different sizes, which bring balance and softness to the palate.
Tasting profile
Refined yet approachable, noble and elegant, with a clear sense of authenticity. The character is rich yet subtle, with an appealing mineral note. The palate is balanced and soft.
Vintage notes
2022: In Piedmont the year began with an unusually cold and dry winter with little snowfall, which risked leaving the soils short of moisture at the start of spring; melting mountain snow helped resolve this. A hot summer brought further challenges, partly eased by water accumulated in the soil during spring, but irrigation could not protect part of the crop from drought. The Piedmont vintage was small. The wines are expected to develop refined flavours and aromas and will need some time to age before showing their full potential.
