Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Pian Romualdo vineyard in Monforte d’Alba. Its soils are rich in limestone, and pronounced shifts between daytime and nighttime temperatures support freshness and aromatic development in the grapes.
Vinification
The 2022 grapes were harvested early, from 12 to 15 September, and taken directly to the cellar. After destemming and crushing, they macerated for 6–7 days at approximately 29 °C to extract colour and structure. Malolactic fermentation followed.
Ageing
The wine aged for around 16 months, followed by several more months in bottle in Prunotto’s cellars.
Tasting profile
Complex, powerful and concentrated, with a deep bouquet.
Serving and pairing
Decant for one to two hours before serving to allow the bouquet to open fully.
Vintage notes
The 2022 growing season was mild and unusually dry. The vines limited their growth and produced smaller bunches. At the early harvest, the grapes were healthy, smaller than usual and high in sugar concentration, resulting in the vintage’s powerful, concentrated character.
Label / history
“Pian Romualdo” is the historic name of this Barbera, which Prunotto has produced since 1961.
