Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from vineyards in Lapio, in the heart of the Greco di Tufo area, at 400–500 m above sea level. The roots of old Greco vines reach into distinctive layers of tuff, volcanic deposits that give the wine its mineral character. The altitude sharpens the temperature swing between day and night, which produces a balance of power and elegance.
Tasting profile
Unmistakable tuff-derived minerality, with a balance of power and elegance.
Label / history
The name means "the yellow of Arles" and refers to the golden colour Greco grapes develop when fully ripe. This was Van Gogh's favourite colour during his time in Arles, France. The name also reflects Luigi Moio's classical education and his aim of bringing the ancient greatness of Greco into the modern age. The text says the Greeks recognised in Campania some 2,500 years ago that the grape expresses itself best in tuff soils.
