Label / history
Casalj takes its name from the ancient Sicilian area of Casalj Rabitalavi, where Tenuta Rapitalà now stands. The estate’s name translates from Arabic as “river of Allah.” Founded in 1971 by Count Bernard Hugonis de la Gatinais, the winery and cellars were rebuilt by the owner after being almost completely destroyed in the Belice Valley earthquake.
