Vineyard and terroir
The Perricone and Nerello Mascalese grow in separate vineyards at 300–400 metres above sea level, on clay soils. Yields are kept low. The grapes are harvested in early September with good acidity.
Grapes
The fruit is carefully selected before vinification.
Vinification
The grapes are gently pressed and the juice remains in contact with the skins for several hours. After low-temperature settling, added yeast initiates a slow fermentation under controlled temperatures.
Tasting profile
Fragrant, with a characteristically fruity profile.
Label / history
The name Tenuta Rapitalà means “river of Allah” in Arabic. Count Bernard Ugonis della Gatine founded the estate in 1971. The owner rebuilt its cellars and winery after they were almost completely destroyed in the Belice Valley earthquake.
