Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from selected estate vineyards at 300–550 metres above sea level, on clay and sandy soils. Yields are kept low. During ripening, the vineyard team monitors the balance between sugar and acidity to limit water stress and determine the harvest date.
Vinification
The grapes are usually harvested in mid-August, before full ripeness. They are gently pressed in oxygen-free conditions to preserve their primary aromas. The juice is cold-settled, then fermented slowly at a controlled temperature.
Tasting profile
The aroma is intense and bright.
Label / history
Tenuta Rapitalà was founded in 1971 by Count Bernard Hugonis della Gatinais. Its name means “river of Allah” in Arabic. The owner rebuilt the cellars and winery after they were almost completely destroyed in the Belice Valley earthquake.
