Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The low-yield vines grow in separate estate vineyards at 400–500 m above sea level, on clay soils.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested during the first ten days of September. They undergo a 7–10-day maceration and are vinified in small stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 24–26 °C. The process preserves Syrah’s characteristic aroma while developing good structure.
Tasting profile
Enveloping and silky, with good structure and a sunny Mediterranean character.
Label / history
Tenuta Rapitalà takes its name from an Arabic phrase meaning “river of Allah.” The Sicilian estate was founded in 1971 by Count Bernard Hugonis de la Gatinais, who rebuilt its cellars and winery after they were almost completely destroyed in the Belice Valley earthquake.
