Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from a small Alta Langa vineyard planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at nearly 700 m above sea level.

Grapes

Around 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay.

Vinification

The grapes undergo soft pressing, followed by fermentation in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Tirage takes place in the spring following the harvest. This is a metodo classico sparkling wine made without dosage at disgorgement (pas dosé).

Ageing

The wine remains on its lees in bottle for more than 50 months.

Technical data

Alta Langa DOCG. Zero dosage at disgorgement. The first vintage was 2020.

Tasting profile

Bright straw yellow with golden highlights and a fine, persistent perlage. The bouquet combines white-fleshed fruit and delicate citrus notes with hints of bread crust and subtle mineral nuances.

Serving and pairing

Suitable as an aperitif and with delicate dishes, fish-based first and main courses, and white meats.

Label / history

This is Ratti's first metodo classico sparkling wine and the first Ratti label to depict a female figure. The woman is a “vivandiera,” one of the women who accompanied armies—here referencing the Piedmontese army—on military campaigns from the 18th through the 20th centuries. Vivandiere supplied provisions and assisted wounded and sick soldiers. That caring role is connected on the label to the founding inspiration of the Red Cross following the Battle of Solferino in 1859.
