Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the 6-hectare CeniPrimo vineyard in the Arbia River valley, at the southernmost end of the Barone Ricasoli estate. The site lies on the geological formation known as the Ancient River Terrace, at 300 metres above sea level, with a southwest exposure.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested and sorted entirely by hand, with only sound bunches retained. They are transported to the winery in 200 kg containers and destemmed, and only the free-run juice is used. Fermentation takes place in 100 hl stainless-steel tanks with selected yeasts at a controlled 24–27 °C. Regular punch-downs aid the extraction of colour and tannins. Alcoholic fermentation and skin maceration last approximately 14–16 days.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in 500-litre tonneaux: 30% new and 70% second-use.
Tasting profile
The fruit character remains refined, accompanied by subtle oak notes.
