Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards face southeast at 400 m above sea level, on limestone and clay soils.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested from late September to early October. Nebbiolo and Barbera are vinified separately, with maceration and fermentation at a controlled temperature for 10 days.
Ageing
The Nebbiolo rests for 2 months in stainless-steel tanks and then for 10–12 months in large oak casks. The Barbera matures separately for 10–12 months in barriques. After blending, the wine spends 6 months in steel tanks and a further 6 months in bottle in the winery’s cellars.
Tasting profile
Elegant and refined, the wine combines Barbera’s softness with Nebbiolo’s firm character in a balanced style.
Label / history
The name “Lautus” comes from Latin and means “refined, pure.”
