Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from a 0.70 ha vineyard with southern and south-western exposure. The vines average between 70 and 85 years of age and grow in marl interlayered with clay. The regional climate is mild and humid, influenced by the proximity of both the mountains and the sea. The vineyard is managed using organic methods.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and gently pressed in a pneumatic press. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with the skins for 15 days.
Ageing
The wine ages for 20 months in new oak barrels.
Label / history
In the local dialect, “Ronco” means “vineyard on a hill”, while “Gnemiz” is the name of the family that lived and made wine on the property for centuries. The Palazzolo family acquired the land in the early 1960s and retained its historic name. Enzo Palazzolo built a new winery in 1964; management passed to his daughter Serena in 1981. Oenologists Roberto Cipresso and Andrea Pittana have assisted her in overseeing production from vineyard work through to bottling.
