Vineyard and terroir
The 2.87-hectare vineyard faces south and southwest. Its vines are 10–35 years old and grow in marl layered with clay. The area's climate is mild and humid, with both the mountains and the sea nearby. Organic methods are used in the vineyards.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at full ripeness, gently pressed in a pneumatic press and cold-settled to separate the juice from the sediment. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels.
Ageing
The wine matures in oak barrels. Its components are blended two weeks before bottling.
Label / history
In the local dialect, “Ronco” means “vineyard on a hill”; “Gnemiz” is the name of the family that lived and made wine there for centuries. The Palazzolo family purchased the estate in the early 1960s and retained its historic name. Enzo Palazzolo built a new winery in 1964, and his daughter Serena took over in 1981. She oversees production with oenologists Roberto Cipresso and Andrea Pittana.
