Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Sauvignon comes from Peri, a plot in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and one of the few vineyards planted exclusively with this variety. The vineyards are farmed organically. The region has a mild, humid climate and lies close to both the mountains and the sea.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in barriques. Malolactic fermentation is prevented.
Ageing
The wine matures in French oak barriques.
Tasting profile
Rounded and balanced, with distinct tropical-fruit notes. The wine has a serious, expressive character, with rich, layered aromas and flavours.
Label / history
In the local dialect, “Ronco” means “vineyard on a hill”; “Gnemiz” is the name of the family that lived and made wine on the estate for centuries. The Palazzolo family purchased the land in the early 1960s and retained its historic name. Enzo Palazzolo built a new winery in 1964, and his daughter Serena assumed its management in 1981, working with oenologists Roberto Cipresso and Andrea Pittana.
