Vintage notes
In 2019, Piedmont had a long winter and a late spring. Heavy April rain delayed the start of the growing season but replenished soil water reserves after low winter rainfall. High temperatures in June and ample groundwater then accelerated vine growth, requiring careful attention to plant health.
The hottest period came at the end of June, followed by alternating mild and rainy days. A second heatwave in late July ended in severe thunderstorms. The remainder of the summer was mild, with regular rainfall. Harvest began around mid-September with white varieties, followed without interruption by Dolcetto, Barbera and finally Nebbiolo. Dolcetto reached optimal phenolic ripeness, with an excellent balance of acidity and tannins.
