Vineyard and terroir

The vines grow in the province of Treviso at a planting density of 4,200–6,300 vines per hectare. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted. The estate practises organic viticulture and is developing and selecting local vines to help preserve the area’s genetic heritage.

Vinification

Harvest takes place after 15 September. Fermentation is carried out in steel tanks using special yeasts prepared at the winery.

Ageing

The wine matures for three months in oak barrels, followed by six months in bottle.

Tasting profile

Elegant.

Label / history

The Benedictine monastery Abazia di Nervesa was founded near Nervesa della Battaglia in the 11th century. Its monks cultivated grapes and made wine, developing a large estate that survived until it was destroyed in 1918 during the First World War. In 1986, Francesco Serafini and Antonello Vidotto began reviving the former monastic wine estate. Using old documents and maps, they set out to recreate its historical landscape by restoring its architecture and vineyards. This work, including the selection of local vines, continues today.
