Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown mainly on the northern side of Montalcino. The principal vines are 26–36 years old; depending on the vintage, fruit from younger vines aged 5–15 years may also be included. All vineyard work is carried out by hand.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks. The wine is bottled without filtration, so natural sediment may occasionally form.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in 225-litre French oak barrels, followed by further ageing in bottle. The 2021 vintage is expected to reach peak maturity between 2030 and 2045.
Tasting profile
Vibrant and inviting, with power and tension balanced by elegance.
Serving and pairing
Decant before serving.
