Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the estate-owned San Zeno vineyard, in the hills of the commune of Fumane at 500–600 metres above sea level, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area. The site has a south-eastern exposure and receives ample sunlight. Its high-altitude climate and local soils contribute to the wine’s distinctive flavour and aroma.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at optimal ripeness and selected at the winery before crushing and destemming. Maceration lasts 12 days, with regular manual punch-downs. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled 25–28 °C. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is filtered and bottled.
Ageing
The bottled wine rests for two months in the winery’s cellars.
Tasting profile
Fresh and delicate, with an invitingly fruity aroma.
Vintage notes
In Veneto in 2021, average yields were 7% lower than in the previous year. The growing season began slightly later, and frost affected some sites during budding on 7 and 8 April. Flowering and fruit set were marked by generally low temperatures and heavy rainfall. From June, temperatures matched seasonal averages and peaked during the first ten days of August. Heavy rain and hail caused significant production losses in some places, although the grapes remained healthy and of good quality.
Label / history
While working with his father, Stefano, under the Stefano Accordini label, Tiziano created his own brand, Corte Alta, drawing on his many years of winemaking experience.
