Vineyard and terroir
Maternigo is a large vineyard divided into plots with distinct soils and exposures, each matched to particular grape varieties; some are designated as Crus. The organically farmed Impervio Cru takes its name, meaning “impenetrable,” from its steep slope. Its soils contain white and yellow marl, which contributes to freshness and balance in the wine. Research at Maternigo matched the vines to the terroir. The growth of each plant is checked regularly, and ripening fruit is monitored daily.
Vinification
The grapes undergo careful selection.
Tasting profile
Bright fruit and spice notes accompany good concentration and fine structure. The acidity is balanced.
Label / history
The wine was first produced in 2011. That vintage received Gambero Rosso’s “3 Glasses” rating and was included among the “Top 15 Valpolicella” tasted in 2014.
