Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the San Leonino estate, in a border area between Florence and Siena. The area shows a marked contrast between clay and alberese, a denser, stonier soil typical of the central part of the region, made up of clay and limestone. It also lies between a continental climate and the milder climate south of Siena. The vines are on average more than 20 years old and grow on hilly sites exposed to dry winds.
Vinification
The grapes are picked fully ripe, with some berries naturally drying on the vine. After sorting, they ferment on the skins in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature for 18 days.
Ageing
The wine ages for 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels and concrete tanks. After bottling it rests a further 6 months in the winery's cellars before release.
