Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from selected Sangiovese grown in the Tre Berte and Pieve di Argiano vineyards in Montepulciano, Tuscany. The vineyards lie at approximately 260 metres above sea level, on soils composed of sand, clay and silt. The vines are about 20 years old and trained using the Guyot system.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
Fermentation is carried out by ambient yeasts in stainless-steel vats at a controlled temperature of 28–30°C. Skin maceration lasts approximately 18–20 days.
Ageing
Following alcoholic fermentation, the wine is transferred to 50 hl oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation takes place in these vessels, followed by 18 months of maturation. After bottling, the wine rests in the estate cellar for approximately six months before release.
Tasting profile
Ruby red in colour. The bouquet combines mature fruit with floral and spicy notes. The palate is fresh, complex and vibrant, with graceful, silky tannins and a profile characteristic of traditional Vino Nobile di Montepulciano from the Pieve di Argiano area.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C with roasted or salt-cured red meat, game, cheese or traditional Mediterranean first courses. Store the bottle horizontally, protected from light, at 15–17°C.
History
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is presented as one of Italy’s oldest and most important denominations. The Bonci Casuccini family has a longstanding connection with the territory of Montepulciano.
