Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Pinot Grigio grows on sandy marl soils in San Floriano del Collio, near the Slovenian border in the eastern part of Northern Italy. The estate’s vineyards occupy 9.5 hectares of hilly land in Collio, whose microclimate is particularly suited to viticulture. Pinot Grigio represents 40% of the planted area. The vines average 17 years old and are planted at 5,000–6,000 vines per hectare, with a harvest of approximately 6,000 kg.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand during the first ten days of September. They undergo cold maceration for 6–8 hours at 8–10 °C, followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless-steel vats at 16–20 °C.
Ageing
The wine matures for six months in steel tanks and a further seven months in bottle.
Label / history
The Terčič family has grown grapes for many years and began producing wine in 1990. Its wines first reached the market in 1994. Annual production of this Pinot Grigio is limited to 7,500 bottles.
