Vineyard and terroir

Friulano grows on ventilated hillsides in Collio Goriziano. The predominantly marly soils contain clay and limestone and date from the Eocene era. The 2019 technical sheet records Guyot and double-overturned training and a yield of 55 q/ha.

Grapes

100% Friulano, the historic variety of Collio Goriziano.

Vinification

The 2019 grapes were harvested manually from the final ten days of August through the first ten days of September. After gentle pressing, the must underwent a short settling period without sulfur dioxide. Fermentation was initiated with pied de cuve and continued for 10–12 days in stainless steel at 16 °C.

Ageing

Eight months on the lees in stainless steel, followed by at least five months in bottle.

Technical data

The 2019 wine has 13% alcohol, 5.21 g/L total acidity and 0.6 g/L residual sugar.

Tasting profile

Bright straw yellow with green-gold reflections. Pear and apricot lead the intense bouquet, joined by a restrained almond note and wildflowers. Full-bodied and dynamic on the palate, it balances freshness with marine, saline nuances and maintains close correspondence between aroma and flavour.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 13 °C. Suitable as an aperitif and with San Daniele ham, egg and asparagus dishes, or Asian cuisine.

Label / history
