Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in hillside vineyards around Arezzo, within the Colli Aretini subregion of Chianti, at an altitude of 300 metres. Viticulture in the area dates back to ancient times, when both the Etruscans and Romans cultivated vines and made wine there.
Grapes
Sangiovese forms the main part of the blend, with small proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Canaiolo.
Vinification
Carefully selected grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, crushed and subjected to a long maceration. Fermentation takes place in neutral vessels under constant temperature control.
Tasting profile
Expressive and fruit-forward, with aromas and flavours evoking the warmth of the Italian sun and the freshness of Tuscany.
Label / history
The wine takes its name from the Palazzo delle Logge, an Arezzo landmark designed by the painter, architect and writer Giorgio Vasari. Born in Arezzo in 1511, Vasari lived, studied and worked at various times in Florence under the patronage of the Medici family and in Pisa, Rome and Bologna. Cosimo I de’ Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, is thought to have commissioned the palace in 1572. Vasari died in 1574 before it was finished; the Renaissance-style building was completed in 1595 and is now known as the Logge Vasari.
