Vineyard and terroir
Selected, healthy grapes come from vineyards in the province of Treviso, along the banks of the Sile and Piave rivers. The soils are fertile, predominantly clay and rich in mineral salts. The nearby Piave River gives a distinctive character to wines produced from fruit grown along its banks.
Vinification
The grapes undergo three days of cold maceration in stainless-steel tanks. The must is then decanted and transferred to steel vats for fermentation. Before bottling, the wine is decanted again and filtered.
Label / history
The name 47 Anno Domini refers to 47 AD, the year Emperor Claudius completed the Claudia Augusta, an important Roman road used for communication across the empire. The company’s 25 hectares of vineyards now lie on both sides of the historic road, which passes through the winery.
