Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Le Ronche vineyard at the estate’s farm in Fossalta di Piave, 10 km from the Adriatic Sea and 50 km from the Dolomite Mountains. Le Ronche is the name of the surrounding area. Its alluvial soil, locally known as caranto, consists of white clay and deposits of Dolomite rock, contributing gentle juiciness, minerality and texture.
The climate is mild, with little rainfall and high summer temperatures. The vines are farmed organically without irrigation and pruned short. Summer pruning, leaf thinning and an annual green harvest help restrict yields and concentrate flavour and aroma in the berries.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness in late August, then crushed and macerated to extract aroma, colour and tannins. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in concrete vats with frequent pumping over. The breathable concrete contributes a distinctive mineral quality.
Ageing
The wine matures in oak barrels on its fine lees for 12 months.
Tasting profile
Refined and elegant, with gentle juiciness, a balanced structure and fine tannins. Subtle berry notes and a delicate cherry aroma are complemented by white pepper. The palate is bright, expressive and distinctly mineral.
