Vineyard and terroir

The vines grow near Lake Garda in Lugana, in Veneto. The lake acts as a natural temperature regulator: it keeps the climate mild and moderately warm, softens temperature swings, extends the growing season and helps preserve acidity, giving the grapes a fresher, more balanced taste. The soils are mainly clay and limestone with alluvial deposits, which contribute both rich fruit and mineral structure. The estate's vineyards are planted mainly with Trebbiano.

Grapes

The blend combines aromatic white varieties: Trebbiano di Lugana, Chardonnay and Incrocio Manzoni. Bringing them together produces a complex, layered bouquet.

Vinification

Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks. Whole bunches are gently pressed, then fermented.

Ageing

The wine rests for around 5 months on the fine lees.

Tasting profile

Bright, expressive and modern. The nose has juicy fruit aromas with a lightly playful exotic note. The palate shows fresh minerality, combining juicy aromas with a clean, restrained, cool-toned mineral character.

Serving and pairing

The text suggests it for spring and summer.

Label / history

"Nasomatto" means "crazy nose" and refers to the wine's vivid and unusual aromas. Ottella is in Peschiera del Garda, on the southern shore of Lake Garda, and is owned by brothers Ludovico and Francesco Montresor and their father, Michele. According to legend, the Ottella name dates to the XVI century, as shown by the coat of arms preserved in the estate courtyard. An extract from G. B. Perez's 1900 book La provincia di Verona ed I suoi vini records that in the XVI century the winery was known as the only producer from Verona.
