Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from vineyards in the Tuscan Maremma at an altitude of 150 m. The soil consists of feldspathic quartz sandstone and is predominantly siliceous. Vines are planted at 5,000 per hectare, trained to spurred cordon and yield 7 tonnes per hectare.

The 2020 technical sheet records production of 90,000 bottles and 13.5% alcohol.
Tasting profile
The 2023 wine is intense ruby red. Ripe blueberry and blackberry aromas mingle with balsamic nuances. The palate is enveloping and savoury, leading to a lingering finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–18°C with hearty pasta dishes, grilled or roasted red and white meats, game, or medium-aged cheeses. The 2020 technical sheet recommends 15°C.
Vintage notes
The 2023 season began with a fairly mild, dry winter and above-average temperatures. Cool, rainy spring weather slowed vine growth before temperatures returned to seasonal norms in May. A hot, Mediterranean summer with occasional rainfall encouraged slow, gradual ripening, and the grapes reached harvest healthy and with strong varietal expression.
The 2020 season began with a mild, rainy winter that built adequate soil-water reserves and supported strong vegetative development in the latter half of spring. Summer was dry and hot.
