Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Vietti’s approximately 1 ha holding in the historic Cerequio cru. The south-facing site lies about 350 m above sea level and has limestone and clay soils with Sant’Agata marl. The Guyot-trained vines average 35 years of age and are planted at a density of 4,600 vines per hectare.
Vinification
For the 2018 vintage, the grapes were harvested by hand on 5 October. They were destemmed, gently crushed and fermented in stainless-steel tanks, with approximately three weeks of skin contact. Malolactic fermentation took place in wooden vats.
Ageing
The 2018 vintage matured for 32 months in large oak casks and barriques. It was bottled without filtration.
