Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in alluvial silty-clay soils containing reddish-brown gravel. The soils drain well and give the wine a more pronounced mineral character.
Vinification
The grapes are gently pressed, and the must ferments at 15–16 °C in stainless steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine ages on its lees in steel vats at low temperatures, which preserves its bright freshness and pure aroma and develops a softer texture. It is then bottled and left to mature until the following spring.
Tasting profile
Fresh and elegant, with subtle minerality and the lively acidity typical of Gavi. The palate offers lemon, green apple and white peach, with delicate floral hints. A light salty note on the finish adds to its freshness and makes it easy to pair with food.
Label / history
"Aureliana" is named after a historic estate dating to the 16th century that belonged to Count Ettore Spinola of Genoa. The winery's first vineyards surrounded the estate.
The producer, Terre da Vino, is a Piedmont cooperative of 14 large and small producers, founded in 1980. It now covers around 3,900 hectares of vineyard for DOC and DOCG wines. Its vineyards are overseen by experts from the agricultural department of the University of Turin and the Piedmont Winemakers' Association.
