Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the Abruzzo Region, among the hills around Bolognano. Medium-textured clay soils support vines trained to pergola (marquee) and espalier systems. Harvest is normally early.
Grapes
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
Vinification
Vacuum pressing isolates the free-run must. Following rigorous cold clarification, only the clear fraction undergoes fermentation at low temperature.
Technical data
Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC. Alcohol: 12.5% vol, with possible variation between vintages. Available format: 0.75 L. Recommended glass: tulip.
Tasting profile
Brilliant cherry pink with bright reflections. The fragrant nose centres on juicy red fruit, pomegranate and ginger. Full-bodied on the palate, where freshness and marked salinity carry forest-berry flavours through a relaxed, lingering finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 10–12°C. Enjoy on its own or across an entire meal; vegetable dishes and cured-meat appetisers are particularly suitable.
Label / history
Terre dell’Abate recalls the lands of the monumental Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria and their ancient history of abbots, emperors and saints.
