About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in an organic vineyard in the Vittoria area of southeastern Sicily, at 220–240 m above sea level. The varied, medium-textured soils comprise Pliocene-era sub-Apennine sands, limestone and silica, with layers of clay and tuff. The vines average 15 years of age.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in late September and October. Spontaneous fermentation takes place on the skins in glass-lined cement tanks.
Ageing
The wine rests in the same glass-lined cement tanks for 12 months, followed by further ageing in bottle in the winery’s cellars.
Tasting profile
Fresh and lively, with crisp red-fruit and berry notes and an elegant character.
