Technical data, vinification, ageing and tasting profile
Barrua is the estate’s structured red from the Barrua and Narcao properties. The grapes are harvested manually from early September to the first half of October. Native Sulcis grapes and French varieties are vinified separately. The must ferments with the skins for about 15 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel at 25–28°C, with periodic pump-overs, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine matures for approximately 18 months in French-oak barrels and at least 6 months in bottle. It is lively deep ruby red, with ripe red fruit led by black cherry, spice, liquorice, myrtle, sage and pepper; the palate is round, elegant and persistent, with delicate tannins and naturally restrained acidity.
