About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Chardonnay is selected from estate-owned parcels of the Löwengang Estate in Magrè, between 230 and 330 metres above sea level. The soils are sandy and gravelly, with a high proportion of limestone.
Grapes
Chardonnay.
Vinification
Spontaneous fermentation takes place in barriques and large casks.
Ageing
The wine remains on its lees for several months and then ages in bottle for approximately one year.
Technical data
The published 2022 vintage has 13.0% alcohol by volume.
Tasting profile
Clear golden yellow. The pronounced, intense nose shows pear, apricot and peach alongside fresh butter and wood. The palate is full-bodied and layered, combining mineral, fruity and saline qualities.
Serving and pairing
Pair with seafood of all kinds, white meat and poultry. Best enjoyed between three and fifteen years from vintage.
Label / history
LÖWENGANG Chardonnay has played a defining role in the family estate’s history. During the 1980s, it became the first white wine from Alto Adige to establish itself successfully in international markets. Its production draws on decades of experience while continuing to evolve.
