About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
LUI · XXI comes from the Blaasleiten parcel at Entiklar, a warm site at approximately 270 metres above sea level. Its limestone-rich, loamy sand and distinctive planting material produce a Sauvignon component that has repeatedly ranked among the estate’s strongest. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically and is Demeter certified.
Grapes
100% Sauvignon from the 2021 harvest.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested on 25 August 2021. Half entered the cellar as whole clusters; the other half was destemmed, with some fruit lightly crushed. After five days of skin contact, the grapes were pressed and the complete lot transferred to a 13 hL wooden cask. Alcoholic fermentation finished in the cask, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
Approximately 11 months on full lees in the same 13 hL wooden cask. The wine was bottled unfiltered in August 2022.

Alcohol: 11.5% vol. Acidity: 5.1 g/L. Production: 1,680 bottles.

The 2021 release was conceived as a restrained, minimal-intervention interpretation intended to preserve the parcel’s precision and individual character.
Label / history
Comets is Alois Lageder’s experimental series: some projects appear only briefly, while others continue over several years. Each label is personalised with a comet’s tail painted by fingertip.
