About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from selected sites in Caldaro and Cortaccia at elevations of 300–400 metres above sea level. The soils are gravelly and contain a significant proportion of limestone. Because Schiava grapes favour shade, the vines continue to be trained on pergola trellises.

Grapes

Vernatsch (Schiava), a native variety that played a central role in Alto Adige viticulture until the 1970s and contributed to the region’s reputation for red wine.

Vinification

The wine undergoes maceration in stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete vessels over approximately six months.

Technical data

Latest presented vintage: 2024. Alcohol: 11.0% vol.

Tasting profile

Ruby red with purple highlights. The subtly pronounced, fresh bouquet combines fruit, violets and white pepper. Light- to medium-bodied, the dry palate is balanced, juicy and soft, reflecting the variety’s characteristic freshness, rounded tannins and moderate alcohol.

Serving and pairing

Pair with starters, pasta, pizza, white meats or poultry. Best enjoyed within one to three years.
