About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

VERSALTO combines Pinot Bianco from areas with markedly different climates and geology. Fruit from the Bassa Atesina comes from a Mediterranean-influenced area with calcareous soils, while the Merano component reflects volcanic rock and an Alpine climate. The specified origins are Tirolo near Merano, Pochi and Penone. Their soils are described as stony and sandy with limestone content.

The technical origin entry gives an elevation of 480–520 m a.s.l., while the introductory text says that the vineyards are predominantly situated above 550 m.

Grapes

Pinot Bianco.

Vinification

Fermentation is temperature-controlled and takes place in stainless-steel tanks.

Ageing

The wine matures on its lees for approximately nine months, partly in stainless-steel tanks and partly in large casks.

Technical data

The 2023 vintage has 11.5% alcohol by volume and an estimated drinking window of 2–5 years.

Tasting profile

Clear, bright straw-yellow with a green shimmer. The slightly aromatic bouquet combines pear, apple and peach with a mineral character. The palate is medium-bodied, quite intense, elegant and linear, with freshness and lively energy.

Serving and pairing

Pair with starters, asparagus, seafood, white meat or poultry.

Label / history

The composition is built around contrasts in climate, geology and elevation. Its name refers to the Italian expression “verso l’alto,” meaning “upwards.”
