Argiano

History

The name Argiano is linked by tradition to Ara Jani, an altar or temple dedicated to the Roman god Janus, although another interpretation connects it to the Orcia River.

The estate’s Renaissance villa was built in the late 16th century, establishing Argiano as one of Montalcino’s historic properties.

In 2013 the estate began a detailed soil study with Pedro Parra and agronomist Francesco Monari. From 2015, grapes from six leading plots in the north-central estate zone were vinified and aged separately.

The modern project combines restoration, organic farming, biodiversity and parcel-based interpretation of Sangiovese.
