About this wine

Vinification

Made under the direction and supervision of Matteo Ascheri. The Nebbiolo grapes ferment for 12 days at 28 °C.

Ageing

The wine spends 6 months in stainless steel tanks, then 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels: 50% in old 1000- and 5000-litre barrels and 50% in new 500-litre barrels. A further 10 months in bottle follow.

Tasting profile

Despite the long time in oak, the wood is barely noticeable, which lets the wine's elegant floral notes come through.

Vintage notes

2022 in Piedmont began, as in many other parts of Europe, with an unusually cold and dry winter. Snowfall was light, which risked leaving the soils short of moisture at the start of spring, but melting mountain snow eased the problem. The summer was hot and brought new challenges for growers; water stored in the soil during spring softened the impact somewhat. Irrigation systems could not prevent some of the crop from being lost to drought. The Piedmont 2022 harvest was small. Its wines are expected to develop refined aromas and flavours, and they need some time to age before showing their full potential.
