About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown on hills at 230–260 m above sea level, south of Campobello di Licata in the province of Agrigento, southwestern Sicily. The vineyards form a band about 8 km from the coast and have deep, mixed soils composed mainly of limestone. Planting density is 5,000 vines per hectare. Daytime temperatures reach 35–40 °C, falling to 20–22 °C at night.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-harvested in small baskets between the middle and final thirds of September. Traditional vinification includes 15–20 days of skin maceration at a controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine matures for 10–12 months in 110 hl French oak casks, followed by 12–13 months in bottle.
Label / history
The name comes from the Sicilian phrase “dare adenzia,” meaning “to listen and pay attention,” and refers to the depth of human relationships and lasting values. Angelo, Domenico and Carmelo Bonetta established the estate at the beginning of the new millennium. Its first harvest took place in 2007, and its first wines reached the market in 2009. In 2011, Baglio del Cristo di Campobello received the Grand Prix for Best New Winery at the Vini di Sicilia competition.
