About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in Lombardy, northern Italy, close to the Swiss border, at elevations of 380–700 m. The vineyards are predominantly south-facing and occupy rocky, terraced slopes in the lower Rhaetian Alps, within Valtellina. This deep Alpine valley follows the Adda River from east to west, between Bormio and the northern tip of Lake Como.
Grapes
Nebbiolo is locally known as Chiavennasca, a name derived from the town of Chiavenna. In Valtellina, it produces rounder, more tannic wines than in Piedmont.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Following a short period of skin contact, spontaneous fermentation takes place in steel vats.
Ageing
The wine matures in steel vats for 8–10 months.
Serving and pairing
Decant for 20 minutes before serving.
Label / history
The label depicts Noah’s Ark, representing brothers Luca and Matteo’s desire to revive ancient local grape varieties.
