About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from a vineyard in the Valgella area, at more than 500 m above sea level. Valgella lies in Valtellina, a deep Alpine valley following the Adda River from east to west between Bormio and the northern tip of Lake Como.
Grapes
Chiavennasca, the local name for Nebbiolo, forms the main part of the blend, with small amounts of Rossola and Pignolo.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Fermentation begins spontaneously in stainless-steel vats, with maceration lasting up to more than 90 days. The wine is bottled without fining, filtration or stabilization.
Ageing
The wine ages for 12 months in large 20 hL Austrian oak barrels.
Tasting profile
Complex and classically elegant, with the roundness and pronounced tannins associated with Chiavennasca grown in Valtellina.
