About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Caccia al Piano 1868 estate lies in Castagneto Carducci, in the heart of Bolgheri. It has 20 ha of vineyards divided into three plots, each at a different elevation and with a different exposure. Vines are planted at a high density of 10,000 per hectare, and only 5 bunches are left on each vine, which gives the fruit a greater concentration of aromas.

Vinification

The grapes are picked by hand at optimum ripeness and placed in 15-kg crates. At the winery they are destemmed, then pressed and vinified. Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with each variety vinified separately.

Ageing

The wine ages for several months in stainless steel tanks, then the varieties are blended before bottling.

Tasting profile

Elegant.

Label / history

The Guido Berlucchi group acquired the Caccia al Piano 1868 estate in 2003. The estate produces around 100,000 bottles of red wine a year.
