History
Binomio began in 1998 as a collaboration between Fattoria La Valentina and Azienda Agricola Inama. The objective was to produce a structured, modern Montepulciano d’Abruzzo from an old vineyard at the edge of Majella National Park. The vineyard was restored in spring 2009.
Terroir
The 4.2 ha vineyard lies at 300–350 m in San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore, on the hills at the edge of Majella National Park. It faces south and has medium-textured clay soil.
Winemaking
Old Montepulciano vines are trained to Abruzzo pergola. The vineyard is divided by vine vigour and clay quality. Harvest is manual in small crates.
Parcels are vinified separately. Grapes are selectively destemmed so only intact berries enter vertical vats. Pump-overs, temperature and maceration are adapted to each parcel.
Philosophy
Binomio was created to show that Montepulciano d’Abruzzo can combine power, precision, freshness and territorial identity.
