About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards have a southern exposure, with vines approximately 30–45 years old.
Vinification
Each variety is sorted and gently pressed separately. Maceration and fermentation take place at a constant 25–27 °C. A slow secondary fermentation follows in French oak barrels for 30 days.
Ageing
The wine rests for approximately 12 months in stainless-steel tanks, followed by one year in bottle in a temperature-controlled cellar. During bottle ageing, the bottles are stored in large cases holding 50 bottles each.
Tasting profile
An elegant, balanced blend that combines the strong character of Cabernet Sauvignon with the classic elegance of Pinot Nero and Schioppettino.
Label / history
Fulvio Bressan developed the wine after years of experimentation to find the appropriate balance among the three varieties.
The Bressan family name derives from Baron De Bresciani, whose name appears in the land register of Empress Maria Theresa alongside records of early farmers paying local lords taxes on wine sales. The register also names Giacomo Bressan, the winery’s founder, who was born in 1726 and began the family’s winemaking activity. His descendants subsequently expanded the winery and increased production and sales. The vineyards were devastated during the First and Second World Wars, after which the family rebuilt the winery and enlarged its holdings by purchasing neighbouring land.
Farra d’Isonzo is the name of the land and is traditionally derived from the grape variety grown there.
